SINOSSI / SYNOPSIS
ITALIANO
ENGLISH
Khaliut and Khuvizaya, two young volunteers, leave Ulaanbaatar on a journey through silent valleys and nomadic encampments sus- pended in time, leading them to the elementary school in the small village of Ulaan Khad, more than 1,800 km from home. Far from the frantic rhythm and comforts of the city, the two immerse them- selves fully in the nomadic life of the small Uriankhai community. Their days are shaped by school lessons, during which they offer support and assistance to teachers and pupils, and brightened byinvitations into the gers of the children’s parents and grandparents — privileged moments of encounter and genuine sharing. Gradually, they embrace a new rhythm of life, guided by the signals of that land: the rising and setting of the sun, the care of the animals on which their nourishment and daily subsistence depend. Horseback rides and the deep contact with Mother Nature, which have always accompanied the Mongolian nomadic people, begin to awaken in them a sense of identity and a profound awareness of their roots, which they believed they had lost. An intimate encounter with a country that still preserves a precious balance between human beings, land, and tradition.
